SPEAKER


Faye Chadwell is the Donald and Delpha Campbell University Librarian and OSU Press Director at Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon.   She has presented and written extensively on the topics of leadership in libraries and her passion, collection management.  She served as editor for Taylor & Francis' Collection Management journal for five years and currently serves on the journal's Editorial Board.  For more information see Full CV.




 PRESENTERS



Stacy Baggett is the Electronic Resources Librarian at Shenandoah University's Alson H. Smith, Jr. Library in Winchester, VA. Her main duties include managing electronic resources, troubleshooting electronic access issues, supporting the use of mobile technologies and online discovery tools, and administering the library's LibGuides. Previously, she worked as the E-Resources Cataloger at East Carolina University. Stacy holds an M.L.S from North Carolina Central University and an M.B.A and B.S. in Business Administration from East Carolina University.


Tina Baich is an Associate Librarian at IUPUI University Library where she is Head of Resource Sharing & Delivery Services as well as Bibliographic & Metadata Services. She is currently Chair of ALA RUSA STARS, the American Library Association’s section devoted to resource sharing issues. Tina is interested in web-based interlibrary loan finding aids and the impact of open access on interlibrary loan and has presented on these topics at state, regional and international conferences. Tina is a graduate of the Indiana University Schools of Library & Information Science and Liberal Arts with master degrees in Library Science and Public History.



Karin Byström is the team leader of the e-resource team at Uppsala University library. She has worked with electronic resources for several years, with a special focus on e-books. She lead a Swedish project on PDA as acquisition method for academic libraries in 2012, and has also an interest in usage statistics and e-resource evaluation.


 



Nichole Collier has worked for The Ohio State University Libraries as the Library Collections Analyst since 2012 and has an MLIS from Kent State University. She manages projects related to the analysis of collection data and develops analytic processes to target value, usage and cost studies from electronic resources, as well as use of print collections and high-level analysis of library collection activities. She conducts outreach and training to increase engagement with subject librarians and enhance their ability to use collections data for assessment and decision-making.




 
Beverly Geckle earned her MLS in 2000 from the University of Maryland, College Park. She is the Continuing Resources & Government Documents Librarian in the Collection Development & Management department at Middle Tennessee State University where she has worked since 2006. Prior to MTSU she was the Serials Librarian at the University of Baltimore Law Library. Additionally Ms. Geckle worked as a paraprofessional for several years before earning her MLS.






Kittie Henderson, M.L.S., serves as Director of the Academic, Law and Public Divisions. In her position, Henderson works with EBSCO staff and clients in North America to develop and expand services to academic, research, law and public libraries. With Stephen Bosch of University of Arizona, Henderson authors Library Journal's annual Periodicals Price Survey. 



 
Suzanne Hinnefeld is the Coordinator of Collection Development at the Cushwa-Leighton Library, Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame, Indiana. Librarianship is a third career for Suzanne. She began her career at Bayer Corporation and Meridian Diagnostics working in research and development in biochemistry. Her middle career of raising her children took her for several years to the Netherlands and Belgium. Then in 2006 she graduated from Indiana University – Indianapolis with an MLS degree and began work at Goshen College as the sciences liaison librarian. In 2011 she began at Saint Mary’s College where she lives close enough to bike to work.



Dracine Hodges is Head of Acquisitions at the Ohio State University Libraries.  She provides leadership in the procurement of collections materials in all formats and oversight for related policy and procedures.  She is also an active member of the ALCTS division of the American Library Association where she has served on multiple committees and presented at the ALA Annual Conference.  Her research interests include demand-driven acquisition models, the e-book market, and usage-informed collection development.  She received her MLIS from Florida State University and a BA from Wesleyan College.

 
For the past seven years, Becky Imamoto has been the Research Librarian for History at the University of California, Irvine. She is a member of the Collection Development Department and is co-chair of the DDA Team.








 
Frances Krempasky is the Electronic Resources Management Librarian at Lansing Community College in Lansing Michigan. She has been working in libraries for over 15 years and also teaches classes at Midwest Collaborative for Library Services. Her previous work experience includes Serials/Acquisitions Librarian at Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing Michigan and Head of Cataloging at Wayne State University. She earned her BA from Michigan State University and her MLIS from Wayne State University.



Jennifer Laherty is an Associate Sciences Librarian at Indiana University Bloomington Libraries. She is the head of both the Chemistry Library and the Life Sciences Library and collects for the following funds: biology, biochemistry, chemistry, medical sciences, nursing, and optometry. She recently switched from being IUBs Open Access Publishing and Scholarly Communication Librarian for 7 years. Previously she spent 12 years at California State University Easy Bay as a science librarian and head of collection development.




Lisa Mackinder is the Head of Electronic Resources and Serials Acquisitions at University of California, Irvine, where she has had responsibility for the lifecycle of all electronic resources for close to 7 years. She co-chairs the DDA Team with her co-presenter.








Suzanne Mangrum earned her MLS in 2003 from the University of Southern Mississippi. She began her library career as the Acquisitions Librarian at Christian Brothers University in Memphis. She has been at MTSU for eight years in the Collection Development and Management Department. Ms. Mangrum is currently the Acquisitions Librarian and was previously the Assessment Librarian.






Mary Beth Minick has served as team leader of the Professional Programs Team, the Reference Team, and the Access Services Team at IUPUI University Library.  She has also served as the Chair of the Collection Development Working Group and the Co-Chair of the Innovative Collection Development Working Group.   She has been active in numerous professional associations and spoken on library issues in a number of venues.  Ms. Minick earned her MS in library science from Simmons College and has a BA from St. Mary’s College, Notre Dame.

David Nelson is currently the Head of Collection Development and Management at Middle Tennessee State University. He has had a varied and somewhat peripatetic library career. Before coming to MTSU in 2013, he spent two years in Egypt as the Director for Collections at the American University in Cairo. He arrived at the University of Pennsylvania-- to assume the duties of Area Studies Coordinator/South Asia Bibliographer-- by way of Texas A&M, where he was head of cataloging. He made his way to the Lone Star State by way of the Beltway at the Library of Congress; there he spent much of his time cataloging Sanskrit books and creating a lot of name and series authority records as a descriptive cataloger in the South Asia Section. And back in the mists of time, before all things ‘e’ were even a twinkle in anyone's eye, he cataloged away in North Dakota and Minnesota's Transportation and Supreme Court libraries.

Kevin Petsche received his MLS from Indiana University in 1997.  His first professional position was at the Indiana State Library and he has been a librarian at the IUPUI University Library since 1999.  Initially a member of the Cataloging and Digital Libraries Teams, he played a leading role in the group which implemented SFX--one of Ex Libris’ beta participants.   He also played a role in the implementation of DSpace at IUPUI.  Mr. Petsche is currently Head of Acquisitions which manages the purchasing of all library materials.  As part of that position, he manages all of the electronic resources, including e-journals, e-books and online databases.  He is also responsible for the licensing of electronic resources.  Mr. Petsche has been a longtime board member of the Indiana Online Users Group (IOLUG) and currently serves as the group’s treasurer.  He is also a member of the Academic Libraries of Indiana (ALI) Resource Advisory Group as well as a member of the Library Fund Steering Committee for the Indianapolis Foundation.   For several years, he played a leading role in the ILF Technical Services Division and currently serves as the group’s Assistant Treasurer.

Fran Rosen is Associate Professor and Collection Development & Acquisitions Librarian at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan. She is liaison librarian to the College of Engineering Technology, and is active in the Science and Technology Section of ACRL. She also spent several years on the university’s General Education Task Force. Fran’s interests include new models for purchase and access of electronic resources, open access and scholarly communication, competency-based education, and MOOCs. She holds an MS-LIS from Simmons College and an antique MS in Computer Science from Purdue University. 

Feng Shan, Associate Librarian, Head of Electronic Services at Schurz Library, IUSB. He was the Head of Computer Applications at Schurz Library, IUSB. He also once worked as Web Developer/Database Administrator at a company before coming to the current position. He began to get involved in web development from 1993, and electronic resources from 1995. He received his MS degree at the library school of University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 1994. His Undergraduate major is English.




George Stachokas is Special Assistant to the Dean for Project Management at Purdue University Libraries. Previously, he has served as Head of Resource Services at Purdue and the Electronic Resources Librarian at Indiana State University. George holds an M.S.L.I.S. from the University of Illinois, an M.A. in History from Indiana State University, and a B.S. in Economics from Purdue University. His research interests include electronic resources management, collection development, and analytics. He is sole author of After the Book: Information Services for the 21st Century which will be available on September 26, 2014.


Eli Sullivan is currently the Psychology Librarian at Miami University. Her professional interests include collections analysis, usability, and information-seeking behavior. She is also interested in scholarly communication, open access, and student publishing and is involved in ongoing local efforts to educate and assist Miami faculty and students in related projects. She earned her LIS from the University at Buffalo, State University of New York.




Joanna Voss has worked for the Ohio State University Libraries as Electronic Resources Access Coordinator since 2012, and previously at the Columbus Metropolitan Library in public services.  She has an MLIS from Kent State University and an MS in aerospace engineering from the Ohio State University. She works at the intersection of access to and analysis of electronic resources. Her current projects include creating robust workflows to update knowledge bases, managing a link resolver interface, and taking advantage of alternative data sources to supplement publisher usage data.



Sue Wiegand is the Periodicals Librarian at Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame, IN, where she enjoys being in charge of periodicals in all formats, including acquiring them, arranging access, cataloging, teaching about finding them, and helping students make sense of them. Previously, she was Acquisitions/Periodicals Librarian at Valparaiso University. She has a B.S. in Biology from Purdue University, and has done graduate work in both Biology and English; she obtained her MLS from Indiana University. She is the liaison to Justice Education, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Social Work, and Gerontology. Sue reviews books for CHOICE in the areas of Scholarly Communication, Environmental Justice, and Women in Science. She is a peer reviewer for The Serials Librarian, and has published in Against the Grain; Library Collections, Acquisitions and Technical Services; LOEX News; and The Serials Librarian.



Niklas Willén is a librarian at Uppsala University Library, Sweden. As a member of the E-resources Team, he works with the acquisition chain as a whole, but specializes in statistics and analysis. Niklas also holds occasional courses in Microsoft Excel. After earning his MLS in 2008, Niklas worked with the BIBSAM Consortium at the National Library of Sweden for three years until he got a position at Uppsala University.
